In the post-crisis period, the choice of an adaptation strategy for a small agricultural enterprise depends on various factors that need to be evaluated. Without assessing the impact of external and internal factors on the company's activities, it is impossible for the management to make the right management decisions on choosing a model of adaptation to market conditions. However, there is no clear definition of the essence of the concept of «adaptation of an agricultural enterprise» in the literature, therefore, the article analyzes the opinions of the authors. Based on the advantages and disadvantages of existing definitions, the author's interpretation of this concept is given. In the article, the adaptability of an enterprise is considered as a property that determines its ability to adapt to changes in environmental factors through the use of internal resources.
