AGRICULTURE IN FRANCE: PROBLEMS AND DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
France is one of the largest producers of agricultural products in Western Europe. In recent years, there has been an upward trend in the share of the primary sector of the economy in the country's GDP. Nevertheless, France's agriculture is characterized by number of problems, including the negative impact on the environment. The authors analyzed key statistical indicators of the development of the industry, and also considered a key project initiated by the French Ministry of Agriculture to reduce the carbon footprint of farming activities. The initiative of the ecological approach in the implementation of agricultural activities belongs to the experts of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The policy to reduce external costs for the development of the industry and focusing on the internal resources of each individual farm will contribute to the successful implementation of the goals and improve the environmental situation. France demonstrates positive trends towards solving the identified tasks, as evidenced by the statistical indicators analyzed by the authors.
