RESTORATION OF THE GROUNDWATER RESERVE OF THE SHAMKIR DISTRICT

Abstract (English):
The article considers the issue of determining renewable (dynamic) groundwater reserves in the area of subartesian wells in the Shamkir district. Based on the general equation of water balance, it is determined that groundwater in the study area is formed due to groundwater, precipitation, filtra­tion losses from canals, irrigation, groundwater runoff and general evaporation. Currently, renewable groundwater reserves amount to 101.5 million m3. If groundwater is extracted in excess of established reserves through subartesian wells or other methods, ground­water depletion, environmental imbalance and other consequences may occur.
