The development of the Federal State Information System of the Forestry Complex in 2025, the creation of its "subsystems" at the federal level, the vector of "digitalization" of forestry, and the attempt to introduce remote monitoring based on the Digital Forest platform require simultaneous transformations in the field of regulatory regulation. In particular, we are talking about the creation of methods and criteria for the use of state information systems (hereinafter referred to as GIS), which will allow effective monitoring. Achieving the goals of rational use of forests remains an urgent and challenging task, which, in the context of the digital economy and the large-scale development of information systems, according to the author, can be successfully implemented. Within the framework of this article, the author reviewed and analyzed a new information system of the forest complex - the Federal State Information System of the Forest Complex (hereinafter referred to as FGIS LC), proposed criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of federal monitoring and a methodology for the rational use of forest resources, including the integration of satellite technologies. The author also identified legal gaps in the regulation and use of government information systems in the field under consideration and proposed ways to use them effectively.
