This article examines the strategic priorities for the development of Russia's agro-industrial complex in the face of global challenges and growing demands for food security. Key areas, such as export potential, attracting investment, and implementing innovations that ensure the industry's competitiveness in the global market, are analyzed. An overview of the export and import activities of the agro-industrial complex is provided, highlighting the main countries importing food to Russia. The export potential of the agro-industrial complex is structurally determined. The need to maintain and increase the export of grain and oil and fat products, which account for the majority of the country's exports, is substantiated. Opportunities for diversifying the export structure are considered. Based on a detailed study of the proposed scenarios for the development of the agro-industrial complex-targeted, inertial, and innovative-breakthrough-and an understanding of their advantages and disadvantages, a modernization and innovation scenario is proposed that is most feasible in today's Russian realities. This scenario ensures sustainable growth of the agro-industrial complex through their modernization using elements of digitalization, requiring a gradual concentration of investment resources on individual sectors in order to increase export production and improve the standard of living of the population in rural areas.
