The article discusses the approaches to assessing the economic security of domestic and foreign scientists, describes the main research areas, and presents the most important threats to economic security identified by leading researchers. The article briefly describes the author's methodology for diagnosing the economic security of regional territories and presents the results of calculations of the economic security of Russian regions. Based on the calculations of the state of the territories of Russian regions, the most crisis-prone regions have been identified, and the main threats to the safe and sustainable development of Russian regions have been identified.
